Usage notes

System requirements

macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon or Intel. Allow screen recording when prompted; microphone recording needs macOS 15 or later. Windows 11 x64 requires the WebView2 Runtime.

Linux supports Ubuntu 24.04 x64 with GNOME Wayland or X11. Wayland currently requires one connected display.

The desktop app records selected regions as MP4 or silent GIF. MP4 can include system audio and microphone on all three platforms. Linux supports normal-speed trimming and reordering, but not click highlights or advanced video effects.

Are my images uploaded?

Screenshots, recordings, your library and default text recognition stay on your computer, with no account or API key required. Remote text recognition shows the destination and image details and asks before sending each image.

Can I edit annotations later?

You can edit annotations on new screenshots later. Marks that are already part of older images cannot be edited separately, but you can add new annotations.

Editable files also include the original image without annotations. Export an image when sharing.
